How to Ship and Pack Large Scale Art Yourself - 20x20 Oil on Canvas

Hello! Voice over Amanda here. First I start off with assembling the box. I got a pack of flat boxes from Uline that fit all the sizes of large scale paintings I was planning on making. When assembling the box I do one piece of tape down the center then one on either side of that. Next I tape the sides and lastly the corners.

To keep the painting safe in the box I like to wrap it up using kraft brown paper. The paper I am using is from this big roll that I got from Uline as well. I cut the paper so that it fits around the painting. Then I tape and fold it around the painting. Lastly I like to label the back of the painting just so the recipient knows which side to open from.

I place the painting in the box painting side up. Next I reuse packing materials that I have saved from things I have bought. I lay a piece of padding around the entire painting making sure to wrap it around the front and back. Next I lay some more kraft paper around the edges of the painting and then a few layers on top. Then I close the box up and give it a little shake test to see if it moves around at all.

For closing the box I do the same thing that I did for making the box. I put one piece of tape across the opening and then one on either side of that. Then lastly tape the sides. And then that is it! You just have to buy a shipping label and take it to the mail carrier.
